The choir of St James’s Church has been invited to sing at two major English cathedrals this summer. They are to visit Hereford Cathedral in May and in June, on the day before the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, they will be singing at York Minster. “To the best of my knowledge, this will be the first time that a choir from Wallasey has sung at York Minster, and we’re very excited about it”, said Geoff Adams, choir manager. The choir regularly sings the service of choral evensong at St James’s church, Albion Street, New Brighton each month, and is conducted by Dorothy McIlhagga, organist of St Andrew’s Church, Rowson Street.
